Help us make the Wagner Beautiful, One Seat at a Time!
Our community is renovating the Wagner Performing Arts Center’s historic theater seating with elbow grease and lots of love. All we need is the fabric!
This fundraiser is generously sponsored by CultureQuest of Seattle. Come see Sounds of the World 2026 at the Wagner on February 28th!
About the Wagner Upholstery Project
-

It was a heck of a mess when we started!
A few years ago, most of the seats in the Wagner Performing Arts Center were still covered in their original, tattered 1939 upholstery fabric. They had suffered years of deterioration and bad repair jobs. This is the first batch we sent out to Monroe Upholstery. It seemed like there was more duct tape than fabric!
-

Community volunteers came to the rescue.
In 2024 and 2025, dozens of volunteers from the Monroe community - and the owner of Monroe Upholstery - came together to give the Wagner seats a new life. They removed seats from their frames, stripped away decayed fabric, recovered them, and reinstalled them, completing about 25 seats per session.

Here's what your $50 donation can accomplish!
Today, after six community work parties, we have refurbished 150 seats in the theater. But we are now out of fabric, and there are many more seats left to go. Each one costs about $50 in materials. Your donation will help us purchase fabric to continue the work. Help us make the Wagner beautiful again - one seat at a time!
